Cape Sierra

Working Meeting with the
Ministry of Tourism at the
Cape Sierra Hotel
The OPIS Foundation will acquire the Cape Sierra hotel lease and modify the lease terms as already discussed with the Sierra Leone government to ensure the management of the hotel remains with the foundation for the next 99 years.

The hotel is located on Cape Sierra which is one of the most famous land features in Africa. Located close to the Lumley golf course and the Cape Sierra Performing Art and Conference Center, the hotel is currently too small to be economically benefit the country and needs to be expanded. The existing infrastructure is inadequate and needs to be completely refurbished.  Located on the secluded Cape Sierra peninsula, the new hotel will be a luxury hotel, with both a main building as well as smaller individual villas facing the ocean.  Immediately after funding has been secured, we will acquire and close the hotel for renovation. The air conditioning, water and electrical systems need to be completely redone and this can only be done adequately while the hotel is closed.  A new building will be added on the south beach to include multiple restaurants and bars as well as house the beach activities facilities. The Marina on the Northern side of the property will be developed to accommodate the deep sea fishing boat and yellow boat taxis. The yellow boat taxis will provide a quick and pleasant trip to downtown Freetown.

The hotel will be renovated to the highest international standards and will be the place where business executive will want to stay while in Freetown.  The hotel will have a "Sierra Leonean" look and feel. As much as possible, materials from Sierra Leone will be used but one must keep in mind that the Sierra Leone industry is still in disarray following the civil war and we have planned to import most of the room fixtures to ensure quality.  We anticipate that it will take twelve months to fully renovate and expand the hotel.

Hundreds of jobs will be created during the renovation of the hotel and many more will exist once the hotel is up and running.  More importantly, this hotel will provide a place for investors to stay when they visit Sierra Leone to start new business venture and create new jobs.
